Teaching Bertie the basics. Clicker training reinforces good behavior and actions. It can be used for a wide range of behaviors, tricks, and training. I decided to introduce it to Bertie to keep him fit, help his back, which has some arthritis, and keep him occupied. He has learnt this in just 5 days. @chatelaine19 Yes, I agree! The film is titled ‘Part 1 – the basics’ – its an introduction, getting the bun used to the clicker & association with key words via th treat. I fully intended to make parts 2 & 3 – removing the treat, then the clicker, but Bertie died suddenly not long after this was made -I didn’t get the chance.
I have a new bunny bow, who I’ve just started training, so I hope to be able to complete this in due course. You’ll see that Bertie gets the treat AFTER the click too :)

@BertieBunnysUToob It seems that you havent actually clicker trained her. She is coming to the treat in your hand, not for the clicker. I have clicker trained my dog and she gets the treat AFTER the click, which comes AFTER she does the behaviour. It seems your bunny is just following the treat in your hand. I want to know how to charge the clicker for my bunny. Not saying your bun is not smart and adorable, just not clicker trained.

You are best to use something that she likes then, if she responds to carrot, use that. Once she is coming for the bit of carrot, move away a few feet and try again. Click when she makes the move, not when she takes the carrot. Let me know how you get on :)

my rabbit will not do any tricks like bertie does. i can barely even get my rabbit Fluffy to come to the treat when i am holding it in my hand, but i got her a clicker ,and treats ,and she will not eat the treats so i just click the clicker ,and give her a small chunk of carrots.

Obesity is really bad for buns, training her may help, but she most probably needs to go on a diet i.e. less pellets, more hay. (Ideally 80% of it’s diet)The video is showing you how to do it, I can’t say much more, but if you start by using herbs, not pellets, and get her recognise that the clicker means treats, she’ll most prob start listening!
have a read through the other comments and have a look at the video notes, there’s some websites there that will help. Good luck!

my rabbit is very fat and won’t listen can you tell me how to train her???

  • BertieBunnysUToob says:

@AnitaEllis97 A clicker, you can get them in most pet shops, they are usually used for dogs.

  • AnitaEllis97 says:

What do you use to make the clicking noise??

I started with Bertie when he was just over 3 yrs old, but the sooner the better really, as it gives a lot of mental stimulation as well as exercise, both help keep bun happy! Let me know how you go and check the website on the video notes for some good info ^.^
